If you’ve been listening to Wellness Force for a while, or if you’ve been with us since the beginning, you know by now that great things tend to take us time, effort, and the hardest one of them all - trusting the process - especially when it comes to our wellness. For episode 200, we spotlight 10 of our favorite moments over the past 200+ interviews, to pull the gems of wisdom, moments of laughter, and the real-life action steps that I've learned to both trust and believe in.
I want to share my truth: This entrepreneurial and podcast path has not been 100% rainbows. Even since early childhood, I have known, deep down, that I march to the beat of a different drummer. Maybe you feel that too, and that’s why you’re here. I’ve faced inner and outer demons I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and since I woke up in 2011, I’ve done some really, really, hard work to let go of old stories about genetics, beliefs, and the people and things that don't serve my wellness. But yet as hard as this has been, I’ve also learned that when you operate from a place of love and service to others, and if you really want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
This podcast has been my home, my work, and my life for 3 years now, and today, I get to give thanks to YOU.
In episode
196, CEO of Onnit and the author of
Own The Day, Own Your Life,
Aubrey Marcus, reminds us that
we have the power to move on from the past. We were not the same
people that we were before and we don’t have to allow our past to
define and label us. It is Aubrey’s mission to help each person
understand that they have the ability to make their life their own.
By giving people the tools to transform their work, relationships,
and wellness, he’s helping create a world of optimized individuals
who are looking to become the best versions of themselves.
Our next guest is
Director, Writer, and Producer of the 9-hour documentary
series, The Human Longevity
Project, Jason Prall. While many people
believe that the fountain of youth can be found via a magic diet
pill or plastic surgery, Jason knows that the key to longevity is
through good health, love, and community. After traveling around
the world to various Blue Zone locations, he is sharing what
certain cultures have that the USA doesn’t have. In episode
192, you'll discover how you can use all of the resources
that are available to you to pause, reflect, and connect with what
you’re doing, who you are with, and your environment in the present
moment.
We dive deep into ancestral health and Paleo nutrition with this next clip from episode 103 featuring two-time New York Times best-selling author of The Paleo Solution and Wired to Eat, Robb Wolf. A former research biochemist, Robb is helping people recognize what foods they're addicted to, what is harming their bodies, and how they can heal that relationship by eating more whole foods and getting to a normal-fed state. Find out why the calories in, calories out method doesn’t matter and why being in a constant state of over-eating high-sugar, processed foods is what we should be paying attention to.
Are feelings the
key to understanding our underlying thoughts and beliefs? In
episode 132, author of the Expectation Hangover: Overcoming
Disappointment in Work, Love, and Life, Christine Hassler, shares how we
can recover and bounce back from difficult moments when life throws
a curve ball in our way. With Christine’s help, people are learning
how to let go of the past beliefs and anxieties they developed as
children by focusing on truly feeling their emotions. It’s natural
to want to avoid something that doesn’t make us feel good but if we
take the time to observe our emotions, we can figure out what’s
really going on in our minds.
Two-time guest, Gretchen Rubin, is the author of several books including her latest, The Four Tendencies. In episode 129, she shares the four tendency types: Upholder, Obliger, Rebel, and Questioner plus what they can reveal about your personality, behavior, and how you make decisions. Although our personality type may be deeply ingrained, we can still benefit from knowing these predictable behavioral patterns and set ourselves up for success. Through her writing and podcast, Happier with Gretchen, she shares practical, manageable advice about happiness and good habits that we can all learn to live by.
Making a 180 and changing our lives around completely is not easy. That’s why in episode 140, recognized leader in the fields of ancestral health, Paleo nutrition, and functional and integrative medicine, Chris Kresser, shares what steps we can take towards living a life full of wellness through holistic health. Today, we are facing a great health crisis as chronic disease is shortening our lives. Fortunately, we have people like Chris who are on a mission to reinvent health care, reverse chronic disease, and help people create a wellness routine that they truly love.
In this next clip from episode 156, Pivot: The Art and Science of Reinventing Your Career and Life, Adam Markel discusses how we can close the door on the past and stop carrying around unnecessary baggage in order to grow in our relationships and love ourselves. Through his writing and lectures, Adam’s goal is to teach others how they can start making choices now in the present in order to navigate and move forward through with good decisions. No matter where you are in your life, you can pivot and change your habits, relationships, and life.
What does your
future self look like? Why is self-image so important? CEO and
Founder of engagedIN as well as the author
of Well Designed Life,
Dr. Kyra Bobinet, shares her own
story in episode 183 of how she designed her life
and how you can do the same. By exploring the unique
connection between heuristics and self-image, Dr. Bobinet shares
how you can set yourself up for a future that will thank your past
self. Discover how brain science and design thinking can help you
create the life you’ve always wanted and the person you’ve desired
to become.
How can you stop your negative thought patterns in order to rewrite your story and live life to its fullest? From episode 191, author of Conscious Communications, Mary Shores, has a mission to help people clear themselves from their financial debt and feel good about doing it. Each day she is helping people cleanse their minds and get back in alignment with who they are and what they want from life. From debt collector and business owner, she was able to go on a spiritual path in order to help herself and others change their beliefs about what they can and cannot do.
Our final guest is
from episode 182, tenured Professor in
the Center for Sport
Performance at CSU Fullerton, Dr. Andy Galpin, shares what is
wrong with today’s health care systems and what both health
practitioners and patients can do to start going in the right
direction towards better wellness. Find out how we can use digital
tech health and wearables to help us recognize our bad habits so
that we can learn how to incorporate new, better behavior. With Dr.
Galpin’s help, discover how you can find the perfect, healthy
balance for yourself in this modern world.
